Ahh Spring...Fists are in the Air...

Hi All!
I am not on Spring Break yet...I just wanted everyone to know. Any who- I think that the students as well as the teachers are ready for Spring Break. We made the local paper. We had about 2-3 student fights on last Friday the 30th of March. We had 1 fight today (4-6-07) . This fight was after school at 2:57 p.m. "Can't we all just get along?!?!"
Our school is having lockouts now. All students that are tardy to class must sit in the cafeteria for a full 90 minutes. Of course there are students (about 10%) who want to miss class so they are tardy on purpose. For the other 90% of students this plan is working. They do not want to miss class so the are 'bookin' (running fast) to get to class on time. WOW! See how they run...see how they run! Our school plans to carry out this procedure 'til the end of this semester.
Oh, by the way, my Spring Break starts week after next... Those that know the words of prayer... pray my strength in the school system! HAHAHA...for real now!
PEACE! (smile)

Read all instructions before you start

I start with an apology to everyone in the Monday night class. We were assigned the task to outline character traits that we find in out students Yes, I said "outline." I on the other hand wrote an entire page paper on the term "honesty". I am sorry that I made many of you endure reading this lengthy page; when if I simply would have continued to read the directions I would have found that it was only to be and "outline" Thanks to an e-mail I received form Jim - thanks Jim- I realized my mistake and reorganized my paper with an attachment of the outline of the term at the end.. I left the original paper, not for your reading enjoyment, but for me to use as an example in the blog as to what NOT to do. No excuses can be made for this- except I now know - as I should have - to read all directions before I start. Spring Break is just a few days away.

Short Week!

Although I didn't teach but three days this week, it was challenging to keep the students engaged. They would rather be anywhere but at school, and they are anticipating Spring Break and what they will do during their week off.

Well, I guess I'm pretty much ready for a break too, even though I had a short one this week. I was only there Monday through Wednesday because I was ill Thursday and Friday. I hope everything is in one piece when I get back. I talked to another teacher Thursday afternoon to see how things went, and he said he had to keep going to my room to wake up the substitute teacher. He's lucky the students didn't super-glue his fingers together or tie his shoe strings together. I guess I'll hear if anything happened that was real interesting when I return from Spring Break.

the final count down

Here we go count down to spring break and boy is it taking its sweet time.I don't know about the rest of you ,but I am so ready scary. The kids are ready to there antsy truly a task to get them to work. However, somehow we do against all odds we do because we are teachers and that's our job.Do any of you just sit and listen to the students conversations you should some time. I'm talking about just listen not participating. It's amazing the info about what goes on ,has gone on ,and what is planned to go on next. you can find out and run blocker for so many of the issues in your schools and they don't even realize how their getting caught. A week ago I took a knife off of a student it looked like a pen until you pull it apart and there was a 31/2'' blade inside that student actually asked if I would give it back to him ''He wasn't the sharpest tool in the shed '' I must say. I guess what I want to say is kids there ruff there bad but they are also their own worst enemy.

Another day in "Clayco"

Never boring, we got fellow co-workers being investigated fights irrupting all over school and We've got staff having us redo paperwork because we didn't attach sales tax exempt forms/hotel forms on day trips to other schools for competitions. Give me a break. It must be nice to be able to go through the day with your head buried in the sand, but it's not for us. This week I have broken up fights with the newest of the gangs the white gloves and the black gloves which are now fighting each other for dominance I suppose. I also have been told info about other teachers " friends of mine" and they're afraid of outcomes within the county that they don't even know yet and always followed with don't say anything afterwards. I don't like to be in this situation I have enough stress in my life right now.
I'm so ready for this winter break. Thanks for letting me semi-vent to you'll.
