FINAL BLOG POST - OUR "DAILY TRIPLE" (DUE 12/1).
This week I would like you to use your imagination. You have just won the lottery and will leave your teaching post immediately to travel around the world. As you leave your keys you meet your replacement. You are asked to give this new teacher just ONE piece of advice. What would that be, and why? Enjoy your world expedition!
Blog Post - Week 7
This past week in my own teaching I felt a little disconnected which prompts my question to you, "What was the moment (or moments) when I felt most disconnected or disengaged as a teacher - the moment(s) I said to myself, I'm just going through the motions here?"
Fall Semester 2016 Blog Post - Week 6
For the past couple of weeks you have experienced asynchronous online learning (doing modules by yourself). Previously this semester you have experienced synchronous online learning (all together in the Collaborate room). Which do you think is more effective and why do you think that? Which do you like better, and why?

I had a good day on Wednesday :)
This week my 4th period student and I did a lesson on MRSA--the student's taught the class. I give them an article from the internet, divided the student into groups of four, assigned a section of the article to read and present to the class by the end of class. The students were allowed to use paper and color markers for their presentation and they had 30 minutes to complete their presentation. Next, the student presented their section and showed their artwork. Before the end of class, they cleaned the room and we did exit questions, discuss their quiz for the next class and was ready to leave on time when the bell rang. I did my walk about during class and commented on their work. Their presentations were nice and i was proud of their behavior.

What do I say?
Well, I don't know what to talk about. I have been doing my grades for next progress report due 10/15/07. I still don't have my computer back it was stolen last year. So I am using my computer and a copy of a borrowed program. I can't get the school to give me a computer to use this year because they are waiting to find my stolen computer. oh well, I have the major part of my grading done, but not my work for class tomorrow. I am still working on that, but I remembered that I did not communicate last week.
Good news, I have not received a write-up in two weeks! Someone came by on Friday to look at my classroom space and I may get moved, again! I am learning to pick my battles with my students better. My application's class (health science II) are working on a group project--a brochure about hypertension. It was due on Friday, many of the students did not complete it. I received two on time. One copied to my computer and two promises to email me the brochure on Friday (I did not get them). There were five groups of four in that class. Everyone was unhappy with their group members. The team of two girls and two boys broke up because the girls did the brochure without the boys and turned it in. So, I am helping the boys put their brochure together (like the project manager). I will look for one of the Ga Tech tutors to help with the development next week. The guys really wanted to help with the group of girls, but they would not work with them. I believe I have a lot to learn about cooperative learning.
Well, I got to go I have a presentation tomorrow and about 18 hours to go! sperrin

One week Later
Well, this week has been interesting as well. I did not write up any students this week. :) The suggestions that Jennifer give me are working. The lights are down, I stop the students at the door one or two at a time because some classes I have 28 students and the greeting was taking too long. The student have come to expect me at the door and some will wait for their personal greeting. My sponge activity is "The Quote of the Day" and the student are writing it down and writing their thoughts down. One student's writing was nice or at least sometime on the paper, so I asked him is if he was a writer? He said "No" then I told him that he had to be a secret writer because what he wrote was beautiful and that I was going to tell his English teacher that she had a greater writer in her class. He smiled and looked very proud. I love that about teaching and being with my kids.
Progress report card were due this week. I realized that I have 151 health science students in 6 classes that meet every other day--class size 25, 24, 25, 24, 28,25 then I have an advisory group of totally different students class size 17. I started to cry because I there is about 300 students in the whole school and I by myself teach 1/2 of the students in the small learning community school.

The week
This week one of my students committed suicided. He was 15 years old. Today they buried him. This week I returned to work after having an asthma attack and being out for 4 days. This week my principal put me on a PDP. This week we had a health fair at the school, so I had to work on my only daughter's birthday. She turned 13. This week my car broke down and cost me $450.00. This week Jennifer came to my class for my observation and I lost my computer cord (I could not get to my lesson plan, so I tried to do it over, did not work). My lesson was a mess and I was very tired and ready to give in.
This week Jennifer gave me some VERY SPECIFIC instructions and I changed my room lighting, moved all my desk around into the U shape then the students can and took all my table upstairs for the health fair so on Monday I will have to start all over again by myself.

First Blog
My first blog
i was so happy to see everyone on Saturday. I really enjoy our class and all the people in it. The support from all is great and i really feel that you all know how things are really are as a new teacher.
well at my school i have about 120 students plus an advisory group of 14 girls and 1 boy. i asked for an all girl group but they are upset because they believe that we will lose in flag football against the other houses. (I told them that may not be true, girls can do anything, but I do believe they are right--we will lose in flag football ):
I was the first to have my classroom observation. it was Monday and my student behavior was the same as if I did not have a guess in the room. they are very talkative, active, and a joy. I though they would go off, but they didn't. I was so nervous about Dr. B coming to class and i was up all sunday and sunday night trying to get ready and i was still working when she came to the class. She was great so don't worry-be happy about her coming to your class.
To my consultants on Saturday, you idea worked on my male students in the class we talked about football and standards for that profession and or their position on the team. all my football players started raising their hands and asking questions. So Monday was a good day.
today, i wake up with a cold and my asthma has got the best of me. i could not talk without a lot of trouble breathing and had to go home. now i am worried if i should go to work tomorrow or stay home and rest. i don't want to look like i am not a good employee. any advise from the group. talk to you latter.
