FINAL BLOG POST - OUR "DAILY TRIPLE" (DUE 12/1).
This week I would like you to use your imagination. You have just won the lottery and will leave your teaching post immediately to travel around the world. As you leave your keys you meet your replacement. You are asked to give this new teacher just ONE piece of advice. What would that be, and why? Enjoy your world expedition!

Blog Post - Week 7
This past week in my own teaching I felt a little disconnected which prompts my question to you, "What was the moment (or moments) when I felt most disconnected or disengaged as a teacher - the moment(s) I said to myself, I'm just going through the motions here?"

Fall Semester 2016 Blog Post - Week 6

Previously this semester you have experienced synchronous online learning (all together in the Collaborate room). Which do you think is more effective and why do you think that? Which do you like better, and why?

Just Curious

What is the theme for your school district's school year? In Social Circle our theme is going to center around holistic health and wellness. I think it is long overdue that we do this! If any of you have had a theme such as this and would like to share your ideas, please let me know. I am the chairperson of the Wellness Committee that is responsible for many of the activities that will take place this coming school year. For our convocation, we are having a health fair featuring many community resources. We are also going to do a school wide "Walk Georgia" program. I highly recommend that to everyone! It opens for registration in August at www.walkga.org Get involved! It's great fun! We also had our local Rec center to donate the Pilates balls that we sat on in class instead of chairs this past year. It was great fun!

Construction Guys!!!

We have a new construction teacher at our school who has no teaching experience. He was hired too late to get into NTI this year too. :( Anyway, I was hoping that some of you have lesson plans done according to the new GPS that you could send to me that I could give to him to use. I am going to spend some time teaching him some of the NTI stuff I have learned. His wife is our Technology teacher and she is going to work with him too. Any help you could provide would be great. Please send anything you may have to faithfulgirl4@gmail.com Thanks so much!!

Are my eyes deceiving me?

Are my eyes deceiving me? or is the background on the blog black. I have been on the site several times since early May and the background changed and I just want to make sure this is correct or maybe something is wrong with my computer.

First Day New NTI

Well, it's hard to believe that it's been a year since I sat for the first time in the NTI class. We've all come a long way (baby!)! To the new class of NTI, I just want to take a moment to encourage you. NTI is an excellent program where you will learn so many new techniques that you will be a super teacher when you implement them! I was resistent to many of the things at first but quickly learned that my students learned better when I learned HOW to teach. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or concerns. I teach in Social Circle and my name is Julie Johnson (affectionally Mrs. JJ by my students). Best wishes for a great NTI year!

Our First Graduation

Ola High School had its first graduation Friday night. Everything went great! It was HOT out there on the football field but I'm so glad we had it outside. Both sides of the bleachers were packed with family members and friends. If we had had it inside there is no way we could have had so many people attending.

It was really great to see this group of students graduating and moving on with their lives. I hope that some of them will stay in contact with me so I will know what is going on in their lives. I wonder how life will treat them, if they will achieve their goals. For some of them, real life is going to be a rude awakening. But I guess they will all survive life just like every other generation does. Somehow we all manage to muddle through, don't we? Ha! Ha!
