SNOW!!!!!?????

Snow days in Georgia! I grew up in this state, meaning I spent 14 years in public schools here (pre-school included). During those 14 years I think I experienced 2 snow days, this year, we have had 4 and 1/2 snow days in 2 separate occasions. I have heard rumors that because the time was claimed to be a state of emergency by the governor that the students will not have to make up the lost time. This is a place of concern for me, though a free day off is nice, not at the expense of increased stress. Trying to hit all the standards and teach the students all they need to be prepared for the next classes, S.L.O., and or the end of pathway testing is hard enough in the time given, now we are a week behind! I did use the time to get some planning for projects done and grading, as well as some much needed relaxation. All and all the snow was a bit of a blessing for the break it gave, and a bit of a nuisance because of the time crunch it caused.

Don't forget to take some time off just for you because you certainly deserve it. Every time we talk I hear you're still working hard and pushing through. You may be one of the most dedicated teachers I know. I'm crossing my fingers for no make up days!! Although, I know our kids could benefit from it. We may just have to double up on teaching some of out standards. Keep up the good work and don't worry I know you class will do well on the SLOs.

Trenton, I love your work ethic. You like to get things done and done right. I agree with LRS though, stop and play sometimes so we don't get overloaded. The whole state is behind...just keep that in mind as you try to catch up. No worries mon!! I am hoping that the kids don't have to make up the entire time we have had off. In my district we are having to log 32 extra hours (after school, before school, etc) to make up our time...Hope you all get to skip that part!

So I'm not the only one that is stressed about trying to teach all the standards and running out of time. I know exactly how you feel Trenton, but reading the comments LRS and Cortney gave you makes sense to me and helped me relax. The whole state is behind, BRILLIANT, why didn't I think of that. I hope you take in their comments like I have.

Trent, I know how it feels. Maybe all the snow is gone and you can look forward to spring break. You work too hard anyway, you needed some days off. Your students will do fine with SLOs, you are a great teacher. We may be singing a different tone about the middle of May, you'll be praying for snow days.
