Hi!
What I am most proud of this week is being able to help the new teachers! This week I was walking down a hall where we had four new teachers in a department. As I walked by each room I stopped and asked, how was your day, do you need anything, and let me know if I can help you with anything. One teacher asked me about classroom management! OMG! I know a little something about that! ........Thanks to NTI! I shared with her some of the things I do that I have learned over the summer, even the point of how the student desk and the teacher desk could play a role in classroom management. The very next day she tried some of the things. Yes! It worked! She said just some of the small things she did differently the next day made a difference. Of course, I let her know that she has to be consistent. It's a wonderful feeling to be able to help someone and an even better feeling to know that they accepted what you told them, tried it, and it worked.
I could go on and on about the things I am proud of this week but I will save that for another time. I am looking forward to the rest of the school year. It feels good to finally be organized and have each class run smoothly.

Thanks for the post...we learned so much in Summer NTI that we are overwhemed with excitement and enjoy sharing with other teachers. It amazing how arranging desks and/or room can inspire students to have a positive attitude about learning/school. I am so impressed with GSU's NTI program and is grateful to be a part of such a positive learning environment. I don't think a program can top this one. The teacher you assisted was elated, impressed and highly appreciative. It will not surprised me if your school ask you to teach a class to your co-workers on strategies you learned at NTI. Great job!!!!

I agree with Jan that the GSU's NTI is top notch. As I speak with others about NTI the programs they are attending are less demanding and not informative or fun. Although we grumbled as the assignment flow increased, as we entered the school year we were well equipped and prepared.
I think this is great. I have not completed the summer course yet, and have just begun the fall course. I hope that after everything is complete, I too can feel like I am able to help other teachers. I know that this course will be a harsh one as far as the work load, but I'm ready.
Im with you. We got 1 new teacher this year, and it is funny to see someone that has the same "Deer in the headlights" look that I had last year. It is nice to be able to give them words of encouragement. I would not have been able to do that last year.
I can't agree more! I felt like a veteran teacher walking on our campus. We of course had many new teachers and it was kinda funny to see the mixture of emotions in their faces. I too felt grateful for the phenomenal learning experience this summer. I eagerly await the chance to depart some NTI wisdom on the rest of staff, though sometimes I find myself offering suggestions to problems folks might not have realized they had yet!
