Rules For Posting To This Blog and Weekly Blog Question

1. Only use your first name (no last names, addresses, IM screen names, etc.)
2. Show respect and consideration of others when posting and commenting. This includes individuals, students, organizations, political parties, colleagues, etc.
3. Check all posts for spelling and grammar errors before posting.
4. Protect the privacy of others. Gain permission from other people before you write about them. Avoid sharing someone else's last name. Use job titles or pseudonyms when writing about experiences with your co-workers or students.
5. Watch your language. Use politically correct and non-offensive language.
6. Make sure you write about things that are factual.
7. Keep your postings education-oriented. Avoid discussing plans for the weekend, etc.

Open Mic 12/1

Well here I am, still at school (two hours afer the last bell), trying to catch up on NTI homework, wrap today's events up, and prepare for tomorrow. I am very thankful to have this opportunity to do what I do. Even though it is crazy how much has to be done in the early stages of the teaching profession. I hear it will get easier the more years go by. If that is so, I think I will skip a few to get to that point. I really enjoy watching the students learn something new and thank me for that. Also, to be there to watch them win a competition. It makes all the hard work (and late nights) worth it!

Hey Rod, remember when we were in our opening session on 9/11 and we had to sit inside out and role play therapist and client? We had to share a problem and see if we could get a solution. My problem was I could not get out of the school at the end of the day. I got all kinds of good advice, like "STOP" at 4 o'clock and go home. "Don't do another thing". "Let it go". I had and still do lesson plans, homework, papers to grade, mettings and the list goes on. I find myself still at school(two hours after the last bell) loving what I do. Not only do I hear that it gets easier as time goes by, but I also hear that we'll get wiser and stop doing all this work. I agree with you. watching the students learn something new and win a competition makes it all worth it.
