Rules For Posting To This Blog and Weekly Blog Question

1. Only use your first name (no last names, addresses, IM screen names, etc.)
2. Show respect and consideration of others when posting and commenting. This includes individuals, students, organizations, political parties, colleagues, etc.
3. Check all posts for spelling and grammar errors before posting.
4. Protect the privacy of others. Gain permission from other people before you write about them. Avoid sharing someone else's last name. Use job titles or pseudonyms when writing about experiences with your co-workers or students.
5. Watch your language. Use politically correct and non-offensive language.
6. Make sure you write about things that are factual.
7. Keep your postings education-oriented. Avoid discussing plans for the weekend, etc.

"Perkins Money"

Why do you think that career and technical educators need to continually "fight" for Perkin's money? We need to fight for the Perkins money because I might not have a job if we did not get this help from Perkins. I could not go to these teacher career technical conference that help me improve my education in the CTE field. The students will be well trained and highly skilled to obtain a high wage job over the next 5 to 10 years according to the 2009 White House economic advisory council report. If there was no Perkins money then our students could not have a choice to go straight in the work force and this money helps to train the students.

I agree. Not everyone has the abilty to fund a college education. many are currently out of work and simply cannot afford it amonst their everyday necessities. CTE programs make student ready for the working world. Without skilled labor, Our economy is truly destined for disaster.

Here! Here! Z. You are so on the "Money". I am somewhat tired of wondering will my contract be renewed or removed. We need Perkin's funding. All of our students are not college bound immediately following school and for that we must prepare them for the future, the workforce and for college (if and when they choose that route).
