As you leave your keys you meet your replacement. You are asked to give this new teacher just ONE piece of advice. What would that be, and why? Enjoy your world expedition!

Blog Post - Week 7
This past week in my own teaching I felt a little disconnected which prompts my question to you, "What was the moment (or moments) when I felt most disconnected or disengaged as a teacher - the moment(s) I said to myself, I'm just going through the motions here?"

Light at the end of the tunnel

Considering that this time last year, I was still opening boxes, equipment was just showing up, and I was buried in paperwork, I would say this year has been exceptional. With the help of NTI I was able to actually have excellent expectations for the year, and so far, so good. I began this year with confidence. Last year I was like a deer in headlights, and was confused that the knowledge I had was not easily absorbed by the ones I taught. NTI taught me how to take what I knew and deliver it in a manner that was more beneficial to my students. Last year I went into survival mode pretty quickly, as most first year teachers do, but now I'm just moving right along. My lessons are sharp, my time is more efficiently used, and the pace of the learning is good for me and the students. On top of all of that, my fellow teachers are extremely envious of my organizational skills. All in all, I would say NTI was much more than I expected.

Oh yea NTI diffidently taught organization skills that really work to our advantage. What would we do without this class every teacher in the state of Georgia should take this class.

I am glad to see that you are ahead of the curve on this. I was in the same boat last year. I was not unboxing equipment, but they had me trying to finish my GACE tests and taking the Business GACE because my county had me in the wrong program. So, I was overwhelmed quickly! I hope to be like you in a couple of weeks. I definitely feel that NTI has helped tremendously. I am such a perfectionist that it is taking me a little longer to implement everything. I want to be sure that I understand what I am implementing before I actually do it.

I am going to be biased and only comment on BVP-er's posts the first round...I'll plan on making it to Shana's next week. As someone who knows of your profound organizational abilities I am not surprised that you have things figured out. (When we worked together, Hal maintained an excel sheet that kept track of all his other excel sheets! :0) haha - yes, I used an emoticon. Being organized has always been a struggle for me, and seeing you do it with such ease really does reassure me that BVP and organization can go hand in hand. Equipment is always a challenge. How do you feel about what you have now? Anything new coming in that you are excited about? I am interested in knowing how you've organized the process of equipment checkout and return. I have tried several techniques with varying results, and have not settled on a method.
