This past week in my own teaching I felt a little disconnected which prompts my question to you, "What was the moment (or moments) when I felt most disconnected or disengaged as a teacher - the moment(s) I said to myself, I'm just going through the motions here?"

Anybody out there?

Hello!
Is anybody home? I miss talking and blogging with everybody.
It's been extremely busy at school. This is our first year with seniors and the whole month of May has been filled with activities for our seniors. Tomorrow and Friday our seniors will take their final exams. Friday will be their last day of school. They come back the next week to practice for graduation. Then 9-10-11 graders take their finals next week. Graduation will be May 30 at 7pm. I'm excited to see some of my students graduating. It feels good to know that I helped educate some of these students. That's been kind of a "surprise" feeling for me. I thought I would just be glad to see them go. But instead it's been a deeper feeling. I feel proud that I was one of their teachers, that I really did help educate someone. That's a nice feeling. A bonus. Makes all the hard times, all the hours, all the blood, sweat, and tears, all worth it!

So if anybody is out there, I miss you!

Hey Connie,
It's the 23rd and our last day! The seniors graduate tommorrow and our post planning is Tuesday and Wednesday. I've made tentative arrangements to hook-up at Harris county sometime in June to work on getting the shop ready for next year; don't want to wait until the last minute. Hoping to move in to the new house by the end of June and then spend some time in Maine visiting my folks; those gas prices! We all really need to have that reunion thing that we've talked about. Talk to you all soon,
Dwayne
