Rules For Posting To This Blog and Weekly Blog Question

1. Only use your first name (no last names, addresses, IM screen names, etc.)
2. Show respect and consideration of others when posting and commenting. This includes individuals, students, organizations, political parties, colleagues, etc.
3. Check all posts for spelling and grammar errors before posting.
4. Protect the privacy of others. Gain permission from other people before you write about them. Avoid sharing someone else's last name. Use job titles or pseudonyms when writing about experiences with your co-workers or students.
5. Watch your language. Use politically correct and non-offensive language.
6. Make sure you write about things that are factual.
7. Keep your postings education-oriented. Avoid discussing plans for the weekend, etc.

Treat em' like their your own!

Sometimes it's hard to discipline a kid who is just a major pain and then be able to still like him/her at the end of the day or the next morning. I've caught myself leaning away from kids who are excessive in this area and maybe paying less attention to them when all the while they need their fair share. I've decided that I will try to treat them the same way that I would treat my own kids, (you know a little 2 by 4 upside the head or a good boot in the seat of the pants every once in a while.....you all know I'm joking right!) But really, I love my kids and would gladly give my life for either of them and maybe I should feel the same way about these here? We have to always realize that discipline administered in the right way simply says " I love you"!

Dwayne, I know EXACTLY what you mean! Some days I am not sure I even LIKE some of my students, much less LOVE them.

And I have had plenty of days as a mama when I thought I didn't even like my own kids too much either! Ha! Ha! But I guess I did OK with them. They all still tell me they love me. Ha! Ha!

Yes, you are right. Those who are the hardest to love, need love the most.

Dwayne,
Remember, I float from classroom to classroom and most of the students know my tolerance level, but they still try me. I had many days when I looked at the roster only to see that there is a student whom I,ve had major discipline problems with in the past. I think to myself, "I will not hold it against them". I don't dwell on the past incident nor do I remind them of it. Children need to see "forgiveness" in teachers because without it, they can't learn to forgive...
