WEEK 6: Collaboration time!

For the past couple of weeks you have experienced asynchronous online learning (doing modules by yourself). Previously this semester you have experienced synchronous online learning (all together in the Collaborate room). Which do you think is more effective and why do you think that? Which do you like better, and why?

If I were to choose one of the big words, I would choose synchronous online learning only because we got to work together and share more information. I also thought that it was more effective because we were working towards a purpose and we were able to help each other out. This reminds me of assignments that I give my students in class. If you give assignments to your students and expect them to do it, then most likely they will not attempt. However, if you were to put the students in groups and have them all work on the assignment together, then a lot more work will get done and there is more of a purpose. I like knowing what others are thinking that way I could possibly give my opinion on the whole situation. The other to me is something that I just need to get done and creates a lot of busy work for me.

Personally I like the synchronous learning module. The collaborate room gives me an opportunity to actually hear the answers and opinion of other classmates and even the rationale of how they arrived at that conclusion. I feel as though doing the modules by yourself is helpful but it only gives you one view. Being in the collaborate room with other students allows several minds to think and work together.
