Hello everyone! I hope everyone is enjoying a better start to their new year since NTI. I have been so glad that my second year has started easier than last. Of course everything was new last year, and this year I already know what my school expects of me and what new goals I want to achieve this year. NTI has really helped me be prepared better this year. I came in this year with a new attitude that my students would be busy as they enter the room. Some things I quit doing last year such as having students keep an orderly notebook and they are also using the time clock again. The time clock makes the students keep up with their hours each week and on Fridays they figure up how much imaginary money they made that week after we calculate deductions. These things last year were a hastle because I wasn't organized enough. My former students have told me this year already that they see a huge difference. I have been able to be more thorough enabling better learning and more classroom management! It's going to be a great year I think!
Hey Jessie, it was a blast getting to know you this summer. We learned a heap of knowledge that will help us become very proficient in the classroom. Make sure you use your lab management plan. You had an awesome presentation this summer.

Jessie, It was nice talking to you the other day. Sounds like you are having a better year this year as am I. I still have a lot of work to do to get the program where I want it to be, but I'm off to a better start. I am wondering what Dr. Burns has in store for us this fall. I hope you get that immunization thing taken care of so you can be in class this fall.
ReplyDeleteI will be there! I managed to weasle my way in there! I bet Dr. Burns will be ready to ring my neck after my troubles with registration. Cant wait to see you all!
ReplyDeleteJessie, it's great to hear you're having some success early on. Not that any of us are surprised to see the different strategies we learned this summer actually works in the classroom, but at the same time it's natural to feel some uneasiness when there's change involved. I too have gone to the organized notebook requirement in my classroom. Just did my first notebook checks this past Friday. Kids naturally resist it at first but at the same time they know it's going to help them in the end. Looking forward to getting back into class and seeing everyone.
ReplyDeleteI am glad that you are feeling more organized and I like the time clock idea and figuring out "imaginary pay." Great activity!
