What Works & What Doesn't

I have found that having structure in a classroom is vitally important. Without it, it is total chaos. I have tried both ways. I found that structure works. It is good to be able to assign positions to students according to their abilities. I try to teach by example and I try to teach my students to do the same. If they are in a lead position, they lead by example. This has made them more accountable and has made the classroom more manageable.
I have found that lecturing, book work, notes, etc..., traditional instruction, is not working in my classroom. The students do not stay engaged or interested. They get distracted, bored and distract others around them. This is frustrating and unsuccessful.
