Ethical Issue?

Hello all! I hope you are having a great week, knowing we only have about 3 left in the semester!! (104 days left in my school year!!)

I have something to run by you...I'm curious to know your thoughts on this.

I learned yesterday that our Employee Intent forms for next year will be given to us next week and that they will be due before we leave for Christmas break. Then, upon our return in January, we will be signing our contracts (due before Jan. 31) for the next school year? Does anyone besides me see some MAJOR issues with this? Does anyone else experience this at their school? I have many concerns, all of which I have voiced. These concerns are not from a personal standpoint in terms of my employment next year, but out of concern for the message it is conveying. If all the contracts have to be signed by Jan. 31, this means that all the teacher evaluations must be done by then. So, what is to prevent a teacher from just "taking a semester off"? I know that they will still be monitoring teachers, but truthfully, an administrator might walk down the career/tech hall once a semester! What do you all think of this?
