Best egg drop design

"In thinking about my teaching activities this past week, of what do I feel most proud? Why?"

I finally received 100% participation in one of my largest and most stubborn class. The students really got involved in designing a container for the egg drop project. The students do not want to go through the design process which it is a process in every area of life. It may be called something different, yet it is a process.

Well, the other good news is that only 2 eggs out of 6 cracked or completely broke.

The students were so excited. After the project, I complimented them on how all of them participated and how proud I was of their attitude.

I rewarded the class and they really enjoyed their treats.

Wow!! I earned cool points but that was a great day

  1. Sounds like so much FUN plus a GREAT way to get students involved!! There's something about "EGGS". I did an activity in my class where we threw eggs at a wall (covered of course). Word got around and one of my most difficult classes is still begging to do it as of yesterday. I simply told them until they could prove they were mature enough to handle it, I wouldn't allow it. I still believe they will come around.

I LOVE the fact you rewarded your students. I like "warm fuzzy's", too. Why wouldn't my students? I randomly reward mine. It's so much FUN when its unexpected! Something I started last year and continue to this day...if a student makes 100% on their initial testing attempt (quizzes and unit tests), they automatically earn a piece of candy. Not only is the 100 rewarding but, they EARNED a piece of candy.

So HAPPY things went well for you and your "egg drop"!! :o)

  2. It is October and the students are coming around slowly but surely. Stay firm with your expectations and even the most stubborn students will come around as long as you are consistent. GREAT JOB.
