Strategies Implemented 9/6 KNix

The lesson plans we created this summer gave me a great starting foundation. I use the “lights off” to get the attention of students rather than trying to talk over them. The classroom managers are a huge help when trying to pass out things and clean up. I have been asking students to repeat back the directions before moving into groups or partners, they move faster by doing this. I use the closing questions as weekly “bell ringer” recap questions they turn in on Friday. No more death by power point! I have been using the instructional strategies and lots group activities that keep them engaged and still learning. I really like using the objectives, the students know what they will get out of the class for that day. NTI has been such a blessing! I am very thankful for the wonderful instructors we have.

  1. Hello Kim,
I wholeheartedly agree with your post. The instructional strategies that I learned during the summer NTI has provided me with helpful ways to keep my students engaged and yield a more well managed learning environment. Having the students to repeat the objective and expectations back to the class, has empowered the students and it makes certain to me that the information was communicated and received correctly. My students have become more active in classroom participation. They’re always eager to serve as the classroom manager, supply manager and time keeper. I’ve discovered that by assigning the students task, it promotes leadership and ultimately improves my classroom management. These seemingly simple roles are effective strategies for creating a more inclusive classroom experience for every student. The summer NTI has equipped me with essential teacher survival tools.

  2. Hi Kim,
I was ready to write a comment to you, but I can't say it any better than Larry did :)
