Who's fault?
Before my students are given a test or a quiz we review the entire thing the day before. I make it clear to all my students to pay attention to the review and to take notes. After the students take the test or quiz I count to see how many students passed. According to that number I am able to tell if the students understood me and the test. If majority of the students did not pass, let’s say 55%, then I will reteach the material and give them a different test or quiz.
I do the same thing Emmanuel. We review the entire test or quiz the day before or sometimes even right before they take it the day of. Some students still fail! I used to be shocked but I've come to realize that I can't take complete responsibility for those failing grades. I use the data and I reteach if necessary and I remind them of my tutorial hours.
ReplyDeleteTotally agree with you Courtney. We can only do so much. There are so many factors that are out of our control I hate that we are held to some of the standards that we are. I know that each of us go above and BEYOND what most teachers do. We can't save them all...until parents instill some want to into today's society, we do the best we can.(And don't give up because there are students out there that we touch in more ways than just our content area. AMEN
ReplyDeleteI completely agree Mr. C we review as well. But still amazed that student fail test even after going over the test word for word the day before. But no matter what you do, some parents are not going to make their child responsible for what they do.
