Lee Lacocca
I agree somewhat with this statement because I don't believe that you can say that the best people would be teachers and the rest would have to settle for something less. I believe that there are some brilliant people who aren't teachers. Many people such as clergy, carpenters, business owners, coaches etc are brilliant people.
I honestly take offense when he said that everyone else has to settle for something less. Mr. Lacocca is giving the impression that every other job is not as good as being a teacher. Without the "other jobs," teachers wouldn't have supplies and resources to be great teachers. I believe that is an unfair statement to say that all the rational people should be teachers. I do however agree that teaching and passing civilizations from one generation to the next is a very high honor along with being a parent. I take pride in teaching because it's the only job that I can think of that has more responsibility than any other job in terms of preparing the next generation.
