I do agree with
Prosser’s Theorem 3—it is essential that students be taught critical thinking
skills and problem solving skills. It is also important that students be taught
the hands-on skills needed to perform a particular job. In my area of public
safety, students are taught the basics, such as the laws and procedures that
they are to follow. However, they need to be able to think critically and work
quickly to solve problems when they are in a law enforcement setting. The
earlier a student can begin to learn these types of skills, the more successful
they will ultimately be on the job. Thus, CTE programs are critical in our high
schools to begin exposing students to the workplace and its demands prior to
graduation.
