Greeting students at the Door
I found out that greeting the students each day at the door has helped develop not only that professional relationship from the start but also a personal relationship as well. I get returned greetings now without my prompting. :0) This is also a great way for the first few days to remind them of the missed classroom rules that need to be repeated for a while upon entering the classroom. (Throwing away food and drink as they enter, do their daily essential question, etc. )
I love the idea of reinforcing the classroom procedures as they enter the room. I'm going to try reminding them to enter the classroom quietly and quickly getting started on the bell ringer activity.

ReplyDeleteStarted using teacher assistant and split the class in to teams. The students love it and I can accomplish more.
