The same "ole" thing!!

The "rut" is simple and easy. It's hard to explain, teach, re-teach, and explain again. The complaints sometimes become overwhelming. Let's not mention, other school responsibilities, or limited space to create labs. In my case, sometimes falling back is easier and less of a headache than moving forward.

I will try different strategies such as constitutional rap, ABC book of Ga Law, visual vocab word association, etc.

I will try different strategies, but there is nothing wrong with reading out the textbook and having a good "ole" discussion.

  1. I totally understand the rut. It is very overwhelming this year for me as well. I work her at school and in a salon in the afternoons and on Sat. The work load sometimes is just to much. I will also agree that sometimes the reading out loud from textbook and having a good old dicussion can teach the kids alot. When they feel free to ask questions about a topic they absorb like a sponge.

  2. Yes Kristie, I agree that we have to sometimes fall back on the age old textbook method of instruction and it still can be effective. I resort to this when needed, but try to attach one of the new methods like having them create a graphic organizer or puzzle from the vocab words. Or even incorporate role play.
