"What do I feel proudest of in my teaching activities?"....it was working through the process of how to use the scantron machine to grade papers. This may seem like a small thing; however, last year, I graded almost all my papers by hand. I remember taking most of my holiday break completing papers. It became a family affair with my family members helping me around the dinner table. Now with this new skill under my belt, I was able to complete this activity in one planning period and provided the students more timely feedback. The students now have an opportunity to "re-do" (mandatory for any score less than 80) and possibly have it reflected in mid-term progress report.

  1. Hello Leola. The scantron is like the document cam, who ever thought of them must be brilliant. Now I have had to take tests using a scantron, but I had never seen the scantron machine. When a teacher showed me how to use the machine it was better than German Chocolate cake. Leola your blog brought a smile to my face and I hope your classes are going well. Enjoy the scantron and that wonderful machine. Freda

  2. Okay, I used the scantron alot last year. Then I got the brilliant idea of preparing tests that the student's had to use more "critical thinking". Ughh, what a mess. It took me three times as long to grade and I think the only person who did any critical thinking was me. I was analyzing all the reasons that I would go back to scantron tests!
