I think it is VERY important to include all domains of learning in instructional objectives. Each domain has its own objectives that all come together for the total learning experience. The cognitive domain is important to establish content knowledge before moving on to other domains. The cognitive is the traditional way of teaching, but along with the affective domain, the students can put things into their own words to better remember it. In our classes, the psychomotor domain is the only way to evaluate a set of skills. Students can be straight A students but lack mastery in hands on skills and vis a versa. This is why I think it is important to include all domains when designing lessons. It takes more thought, but I believe the students will remember your class forever, whereas recall facts from core class go right out the other ear.

  1. I agree Dustin, I think that it is very important for students to be able to process information in their own words in order to get a better understanding. Some students are better at the hands on psychomotor domain than the cognitive so therefore we have to design our lesson to make sure that all students get the full advantage of each objective being presented.

  2. Hi Dustin, I think it is very importantant to prepare instructional objectives in each domain of learning - and more important to we should present them at various levels. Each student is different and learn at various levels so I do agree that we should take time to include all domains of learning when designing lesson plans. Going the extra mile will allow our students to have their light bulb moments and we as teachers can pat ourselves on the back when we see the bulbs blink/flash. Good post Dustin.
