The Best Support Staff

I think I work with the greatest teachers. I am the newest teacher on staff, but most have gone to NTI at some point in their careers. Without them I don't think I would have gotten through the first year. We have gotten a new administrator over CTAE the year. One that has never worked with a career tech program. This has caused some very stressful moments the last few weeks. I was observed by this administrator a few days ago, & will get my evaluation tomorrow. I am not looking forward to it, but my teachers have been very encouraging and supportive, even thought they are also in the hot seat. Thank you to NTI for making us video tape ousrselves, and go thru onsite evaluations. Without these exercises I think I would have had more problems with this new admin evaluation process. We'll see

  1. It truly is wonderful to have a supportive administrative team. Luckily our CTAE administrator is the principal and he came from CTAE. He has always been kind and very nurturing to our upstart program. I have yet to be denied anything that I have requested. I hear the horror stories of administrative teams that were tough to work with. Since this is my first school, I really can't imagine life anywhere else. I get my first evaluation next week, and my principal has talked with me a few times to remind me for what is expected. I must say that I was more anxious for my GSU observation than my upcoming school one, and that should be the other way around.

  2. I understand your anxiety Emily. I have not been evaluated yet, so I can only imagine what you are experiencing. I am grateful for you that you have a network or circle of teachers that are there to help and/or support you in your time of need. NTI truly is and has been a blessing. It truly has to get better and there has to be some method to this madness. The only solace or encouragement that I can give you is that you are doing your best. You have had and you have excellent resources. And continue to evaluate your strengths and weaknesses to that you can continue to improve. You know that you work hard and I know the same. That is all that you can do.

  3. Hi, Emily - I agree with Hal and Penelope that you are fortunate to have such support around you, and I believe that you are adding to the mix as well. Remember that you can 'learn' your new admin to be supportive and to provide you what you need - just be clear and persistent about what you need to do a good job for your students. Let us know how the evaluation went.
