Coaching

I finished coaching volleyball three four weeks ago. My team actually came in first in the County...it was awesome! I got two weeks off of coaching and then started basketball. When I interviewed for the job at the high school, I was asked if I would coach. As I wanted the job and really thought coaching would be something I would enjoy, I said I would.

This is my second year of teaching and coaching and I am tired! I feel like I have too much on my plate. With my program only being in its second year, me being in school, and coaching, there is no time left for me! I feel like I could do a better job with my program yet time does not allot me to do so right now. I think I know what the answer is...give up coaching. I think I am just scared that I am going to let someone down or make someone mad. I will do what I have to do to preserve my sanity, I'm sure. It's just hard.

Everyone, have a fabulous week!

  1. Hi, Christina - good thing you are young and have all that energy! You really do have a ton on your plate this year with NTI and all - it would have been nice if they waited until after NTI to ask you to coach.

If you were going to give up coaching basketball, now would be the time to do it, as next year you will have more time without NTI. Having said that, you apparently are pretty good at coaching, based on your volleyball results - congrats! Tough choice - maybe go talk with administrators - will they allow you to give up duties or other non-classroom activities at least through the season. Tell them you are stressed for time and see what they can do for you. You have proven yourself a winner so see what they will do to lessen your load for now. Let us know.
