I would love to know what everybody is doing with there life's goals as a teacher, or adminstrator, but on the of hand I don't know if I will stay in Education. Back in the day our parents would tell us to stay on a job until you retire. Those days are long gone. Nothing is promised anymore except death and taxes. Maybe we could start a phone tree? this way we can see how the family is doing as well as your job.
I feel the same way Walter. I love to teach and feel that I do a
ReplyDeletegood job. But it seems technical teachers are on the bottom of the totem pole. It dosen't matter if you are master cetified in your field, which takes years to do, or your master certified through the automakers association, Or you have a technical degree in your given field. Which I have all of these. The only way to move up in the pay scale is to go and get a bachelors and masters degree in subjects that will not help me teach a student anything about how a car works, the electrical circuits, and the other thousand parts on a car. There is more technology running around in each new car than it took to put the first man on the moon. I guess what I'm saying is that although I love to teach, finances may force me to go back to a field that you are paid for being highly qualified.
