Tuesday was a great day for my Construction Technology program. It would appear that each year, I am going to be given the "opportunity" to create our entry for the downtown Rome Christmas parade. Other instructors do get involved, but my classes are responsible for the bulk of the work. This is actually ok, the students get to practice building something with a real-world meaning. It also means "competition". The students really get "psyched-up" when they have a chance to compete. The instructor doesn't, though. Ok-who am I kidding? I love it. Last year we placed fifth in the Adult division, this year we came in second. If we move up just one more slot next year..... You may want to consider doing a float if you can- it is great publicity for your program and your school.

This is a project that you can highlight in your portfolio. After seeing the work in progress, I will be interested in seeing a picture of the finished product. Dr.J
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a cool project! We have a parade or two in Columbus each year as well. I'm going to check into it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Joe!
