NOT USED TO GIRLS IN CLASS YET
Today was a new one for me.We had been revewing for a test for about a week now,Going over wiring diagrams, and learning how to diagnose electrical problems.Well today was the big day we had the test.It was 20 question with a 10 point bonus question.Well one of the girls in the class ask to go to the restroom. when she got back it looked as if she had been crying,so I ask her what was wrong. As she was telling me that she didn't remember anything on the test the tears got bigger. At this point my heart went right to that spot in your throat that makes it hard to swallow.Being an auto tech all those years I dealt with guys whining all the time, but never a 10th grade girl crying. All I new to do was just tell her that she knew this material and it wasn't that hard.I reminded her that she has about a 90 in class up to this point and that she would do fine. The test took about 70 minutes to take and after it was all over she had an 86 on the test. N.T.I didn't train me for that one!!

ReplyDeleteAdvice from a father of 4 daughters. Girls DO NOT want you to fix their problems. Just listen and force yourself to shut up no matter how simple the solution seems. If the answer is simple then it is a trap. Be very afraid!!! lol

Yeah, girls are the toughest. They are actually some of your best students once you learn how to handle the drama. Exactly like Gary said, they dont wont you to fix their problem and sometimes trying to will leave you in a sticky situation.
ReplyDeleteYou know, Steve, I have to admit I get along better with boys too. I always have. Even when I was a kid, I always had more boy friends than girl friends.
ReplyDeleteI was a pharmacy tech for 10 yrs before I became a nurse. Back then, it was rare to find a female pharmacist. Now-a-days there are lots of women pharmacists. (My stepdaughter is a pharmacist.)
But I liked pharmacy a lot because I worked with mostly men. When men have a problem with something, they get it off their chest, and they are done with it. When women have a problem with something, they hold a grudge from now on. It never gets resolved.
Something in the female genes, I guess... I think Gary has the best advice of all. Just listen and force yourself to shut up. Ha! Ha!
