One of them weeks

Seems like everything that could happen this week did. PSAT took kids from 1st and 2nd, breakfast for some of the kids took them from first on a different day..do you teach or find time to "babysit" so the ones gone don't get behind and have to reteach the material..glad this week is over

  1. We had our PSAT last week as well. It took all of first and second blocks. Then, we had an enormous pep-rally on Friday instead of 4th Block! My question is, "When are we supposed to teach with all of the pull-out dates and other activities planned?

  3. I hear ya because I've had one of those weeks too...we did everything from working in the nurses' office on projects for her, to playing with the kids in the preschool and teaching them how to wash their hands, to sitting in class looking at each other (when there were only 3 or 4) and wondering what to do next. With just a few weeks left in the first semester, I can no longer afford for anyone to interrupt my class or my students.

  4. These days are basically wasted in my opinion. Ya know, no matter what you are supposed to be doing, you cant really leave half the class behind. What I do is... plan a fun type day with a video or movie ( approved of coarse) or plan some fun extra curricular activities and resume as normal when they all get back. Also, check with your media specialist about videos and such. I just found that my media center has a ton of those "Modern Marvels" videos from the history channel that have all sorts of curriculum covered.

  5. I also have many of these days! Here lately I have so many students receiving ISS for who knows what reason? I spend so much of my time sending them work to the ISS class. I should be using this time to plan my lessons, so usually I end up doing even more lesson plans at home.
