Roaming teachers
I'm sure a lot of schools are like mine. We have more students than we have classrooms and therefore some teachers don't have a room and just float from room to room and teach in someone else's room that is on planning. This is our week for hunters education class. The ag department found out I was teaching this and wanted me to teach their classes also. Since their room is better equipped for 60 students I have been going down there to teach. What a pain. Seems like in the middle of class i realize that i left something in my room. I really feel for you that don't have your own room, and I appreciate mine much more.
Yep, it feels good to have the biggest room in the school all to myself!
ReplyDelete..Likewise Shane!!!
ReplyDeletePerry I agree, I see these teachers "scurring" about with carts trying to get from one class to another...it is a pitiful sight...Imagine if you are a first year teacher withoutthe knowledge of NTI classes????? Enough to make someone run and hide!!!
i have the larges room in our school also..it just set up with 28 desk then a HUGE computer lab in teh back...i cant teach to both parts at the same time though..but it does feel good to have the biggest room!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat was me last year. My classroom was not ready and for about two months I had to push my cart to a different class every period. I also did not have books and was living off of Jajuan and the internet for lesson plans. I never want to go through that again, nor do I wish that on anyone.
ReplyDeleteI am almost in the same spot as a roaming teacher. There is an advisement class in the morning in my room. I have first period planning. Second period I have a my classroom. Third period my classroom, and fourth period I take my class to the trailer. The reason I have to leave fourth period is NOVA NET. I have 30 students and NOVA NET has 8 students. I have 10 computers in my room. I was told If I gave up my room for NOVA NET I would get 10 more computers. We will see if this happen.
ReplyDeleteThis was a good experience for you. You now have empathy with the "roamers." Sometimes I have this problem as well going between the Alpharetta and Downtown campus. Last Saturday I forgot my lecture notes - fortunately, I have taught "taxonony" enough that I think I pretty much remembered it. It would have been better with my notes, however. Dr. J.
