One More Year?

I am still struggling a bit with this career choice. Is that normal, after a year and a half? In spite of the stress and pressures lately, my attitude is better now because of the changes our school is going through. My contract for renewal was in my box the other day. I left it in my briefcase for a couple of days before I actually decided to sign it. But I did! Thanks to NTI, I have better ammunition to deal with the daily challenges of being a teacher. With that being said, I guess it's all good, and I'm ready to start another year. Well, maybe not ready, but I do feel more prepared. I think I'll enjoy the summer in about four more weeks. The countdown is on.

  1. Tony, it's quite normal. I am ending my 3rd year and I still struggle with the issue of whether or not I made the right choice. We just need to look for the little affirmation every day that give us what we need to keep going. But you are so right, NTI has truly prepared me to start another year, and this time I know better how to get where I am going.

  2. I heard my favorite preacher (second to my husband, of course)on the radio this morning stating that youth do not have decent role models any more. He cited the blatant promiscuity of professional athletes in support of his statement. He challenged his audience to be proper visible role models to these kids. As new teachers, it didn't take us long to figured out that many of our students experience abusiveness and irresponsibility from the men in their lives. They think that is normal. Men who are good role models are few and far between. Tony, your students are privileged to see you, a kind and upright gentleman, in action. You are the brand of every-day role model they despirately need. I'm glad you are teaching another year. It won't be easy, but without even realizing it, you are impacting students' lives in ways that hold high importance.
