The Devil Made Me Do It

In this day and age we as teachers & school systems need to be very careful about what goes on in our halls. Enough said. I feel I’ve been flagged for being too contentious. Well I wanted to do something other than whine and complain to get people thinking. I realize that my blog may have been a little too over the top (maybe even distasteful to some). If you think about the politcally correct free country we live in it raises good points. Oh well so much for freedom of speech. Is there such a thing as leprosy of the mouth? I hang my head in shame if I have offended anyone. My hope was to get you all thinking and now my blog hit the controversial topic list. Eeeeh, not good as a teacher. My Intention was not to injure anyone’s way of life.
For those of you who have not read my previous blog you probably don’t want to because my head may spin around and I might spit out green pea soup.

  1. I thought your original post raised some excellent points. However, it did raise a controversial issue that might cause conflict.

Your original post reminded me of a story my mother once told me about her life. When my mother was a girl, her public school required that students read excepts from a religious text each day in class. The teacher would have students read passages out loud in class. My mother would bring the Koran to school to read from. After a few weeks, her teacher quit calling on her. It made her angry that her voice was silenced, but she did not feel empowered to do or say anything about it. I think we all need to be sensitive to the diversity of the student body within our schools.

  2. Your original post was interesting. At my school, the Fellowship of Christian Athletes meet before school starts in the morning and "non-athletes are welcome to attend". No student here is pressured to pray to the Christian's God, and God does not force His will on us, so why should man (women included) force his way on us? God wants us to come to him out of our love for Him, not out of obligation! Of course you will have those that feel like if you don't worship like they do you're doing it all wrong, but God created each of us and He knows what gifts and talents He has placed in us. We all have different callings to fulfill. God is not insecure. He knows that when we seek truth, we will find truth. God loves us, He just hates sin because He knows that sin will ultimately destroy us. God sent His son Yeshua (Hebrew name for Jesus)because of this love for us. Uh-ummm...we can pass around the collection plate now! Just kidding guys!:)Peace!!!
