Another day in "Clayco"

Never boring, we got fellow co-workers being investigated fights irrupting all over school and We've got staff having us redo paperwork because we didn't attach sales tax exempt forms/hotel forms on day trips to other schools for competitions. Give me a break. It must be nice to be able to go through the day with your head buried in the sand, but it's not for us. This week I have broken up fights with the newest of the gangs the white gloves and the black gloves which are now fighting each other for dominance I suppose. I also have been told info about other teachers " friends of mine" and they're afraid of outcomes within the county that they don't even know yet and always followed with don't say anything afterwards. I don't like to be in this situation I have enough stress in my life right now.
I'm so ready for this winter break. Thanks for letting me semi-vent to you'll.

  1. I swear whatever is making these kids the way they are is in the FDA approved school lunches. To be honest with you the menus really don’t seem all that FDA compliant.
Any way I feel ya, but all of our fights this week (or at least the ones I have seen or heard about) involved female students. I don’t know if they were gang related or not. I know that most of them stemmed from days and days of harassment at school, on the buss, and in their own neighborhood.
Then we are trying to make AYP, which does not look super good. So everyone is under the microscope. Yikes.
    Eh. It’ll get better.

  2. Sorry for your tough week in "Clayco". Breaking up fights should not be a part of any teacher's job. I think some kids would benefit more from intensive training in conflict resolution than the core curriculum at their schools. I just don't see ISS or OSS as the answer to student misconduct. There's got to be a better way to help kids who continually get into violent altercations.

  3. I would agree with you Jessie, ISS and OSS punishment does not resolve the reasons for fighting. It seems that the same students are right back at it when they return. Bigdog, hang in there, I know I have seen alot of the same things you have with the gangs. It also seem that the girls aren't any better than the boys when it comes to the fighting. Spring break and summer are coming!
