REDDING: Perkins Grant - A Sound Financial Investment in Quality Healthcare
CTAE teachers should fight for the Perkins grant because this financial resource provides for early education and training for students. Opportunity for employment in healthcare careers is stable and will continue to increase with development of new technology. An increase in life expectancy, as well as quality of life, will also contribute to the growth of careers in healthcare. Early investment in quality education and training will contribute to the creation of highly skilled employees who can offer services to keep Americans healthy and productive. Although there is much controversy regarding healthcare reform, there can be no controversy about the fact that every citizen in this country should have quality healthcare. Quality healthcare begins with quality education and training. One would hope that with continued support for the development of highly skilled healthcare providers, a more efficient healthcare delivery system will evolve. The Perkins grant is money well spent as an initial investment in the provision of quality healthcare.
