The Most Important Thing I Have Learned .........

"The most important thing I've learned about myself as a teacher in the past year is that teaching is a journey." What works one day may be a disaster the next. That my students as well as myself are a work in progress. That each day brings new challenges and special moments of celebration. I’ve learned to be patient with myself as well as the students. My students have taught me that sharing funny moments builds a sense of community in the classroom.

  1. If I have a story or an event that happens in my personal life, I always enjoy sharing it with my students. It is funny how they will give you their full attention when you are talking about your own life but trying to get them to focus on an assignment can be challenging! I like how you put it...it builds a sense of community within the classroom. I think you also create a stronger sense of respect with your students by letting them know that you are human and you deal with "life issues" just as they do.
