Interview (KJ)
I think the most important aspect of this assignment will give me a chance to have some face time with the counselor of my chosen. I have chosen to speak with the ninth grade counselor at our school. Reason being, I have a ninth grade advisement class. It just made sense for me to speak with her and open the door to a better relationship with her and help give me a better understanding into my ninth grade students as well as the other students in my classes. I feel the more you learn about the trials and tribulations our students face on a daily basis, the better we can reach them on their level. Also, feel the more we inform the schools about our CTAE programs the more of an opportunity we have to give the students a look into a career field they might not have ever been exposed to.
Hi, Kevin - I like your reasoning for choosing the ninth grade counselor as you are making this assignment work for you on a number of levels - good thinking. And you are correct in your thinking that exposure is key to reaching more students, as they have little idea, usually, what our careers are about. We are there to help them make those decisions - keep up the good work!
