Counselor Meet and Greet
It is often difficult to understand what exactly a job intales without actually getting some one on one feedback from a person working within that specific field. Therefore, I look forward to speaking with a counselor at my school so that I may gain more insight as to the details of his or her workload. Some of the things I know counselors are responsible for are student schedules, helping with personal or school related problems, enrollment, college planning, etc. I almost think of them as the department that handles the majority of the school "issues." I can think of several counselors at my school that I know I will actually enjoy talking with and honestly, this assignment makes me wonder why I haven't taken the time previously to do this on my own. I think that having a good relationship with the counselors can be beneficial to my program because counselors play such a large role in the development of student schedules. I look forward to this opportunity to build a connection that I do not currently have. This will be a fun assignment!
Hi, Christina - very insightful post and glad you are looking at this as a fun assignment, which it really should be. While you are getting feedback from the counselors about their responsibilities, I'm sure you will be thinking about how to share information about your program so you'all can work together for continued growth. Look forward to hearing about it!
