I am having issues grading research papers. The classes only turned in two pages, but the grammar is really horrible. A lot of students only wrote 1 1/2 page and have not completed the correct bibliography. It has amazed me as to how much time it takes to grade these papers. For the most part, the research has been good. Some of them even obtained interviews with people in the actual field of study.
Hi, Georgette - now you know how English teachers feel. Good for you, though, for having your students do this research and I'm sure it was quite meaningful for them to interview career-related individuals. That may also be a possible job connection on down the road.
ReplyDeleteHi Georgette,
ReplyDeleteDo you have a writing rubric to grade these papers? That will save you time on the grading, and it could serve as a model for your students as they write.

I know how you feel.I am going through the same thing as we speak. I am in the process of grading there Big project for this semester. I gained a couple of rubrics from other teachers to come up with one good one but it is taking me forever to grade this assignment. I use rubristar alot, you can find some great rubrics already created and you can adjust to your content area. Hope this helps!!!!!
ReplyDeleteDr. J and Jessie: Yes. I have a rubric. It just takes a lot of time. Trying to get through the grammar takes most of the time. Reading through the papers takes up the rest of the time. Thanks, though.
