What I''ve learned

I've been able to learn a great deal in the last year and a half.I left my job 1 week before the start of my first year teaching.Although I worked with computers everyday, they were all touch screen.I couldn't do a powerpoint, send an e-mail I didn't even know how to minimize the screen.I'm still not a computer wizard but I have come a long way. Also, I have found that I have more patience than I thought I did,and I have found out that you have to give students time limits when they go to the bathroom.I couldn't list everything that I have learned, but these are just a few.

  1. With this ever changing world of technology it's hard to keep up with all of the techniques. I'm in major catch-up as well! One of these days, real soon, I'm going to get with my son for a computer 101 lesson.

  2. Dwayne is right. Our kids can teach us a lot about technology. They are so far ahead of us it's scary.

That's quite a long list of new things you have learned. I'm amazed that you haven't bitten my head off for making you blog and get on WebCT. Thanks for hanging in there with us and for being willing to try new things.

  3. Hahaha! That bathroom thing kind of struck a funny bone! Kids have been taking teachers for a ride for the bathroom thing for all of time. I have a student who has to go the same time, every day. Its really ridiculous.

  4. Hey Steve

You got shafted on the bathroom, shame on you. Time them on everything, because they will bend the rules as much as they possibly can, if they think no one is watching.

  5. shane i had the same problem with a kid, every day at the same time she had to go..i started a rule in my class...i gave you 5 bathroom passes for the 9 weeks...if you went over the 5 the student had to stay in their desk 2 minutes after the bell..that took away socializing time between class...the problem stopped!!!!
