"In thinking about my past week teaching what is one thing I would do differently, and why?"
I would not have depended on the IT department to fix my computers over the summer.  So this week we started drafting and 3D-modeling on the computer, and 4 computers are broken.  It is very frustrating to have students sharing computers on a hands on activity.  So I should not have taken for granted when they closed the ticket and checked off on my computers that they were repaired.

  1. Shelly,

I know exactly what you mean. My class has 10 laptops which were purchased by one of the former instructors many years back. Our school doesn't even supply computers so I have 21 students trying to use 10 laptops and 3 desktops so that usually ends up in unwanted group activities because they can't all be in individualized computer activities at once. Plus there's always something wrong and IT takes forever to get to us.

  2. Always check your equipment at the beginning of the year before you put students on it. I know we talked about this during the summer and you are rushed at school, but the time you spend it well worth it. :)
