Between the media and the web, we are truly are bombared with tons of information. The information is not always equal but that's why it's vital that we as teacher sort out what's essential to better equip our students. Information literacy is the ability to know when there is a need for information, to be able to identify, locate, evaluate, and effectively use that information for the issue or problem at hand. Before my students work on a project, they have to use information literacy in order to grasp certain concepts. I plan on incorporating the use of technology for students to do research, recall and retain vocabulary words, and design certain components of their project. This will also help students to better their writing skills.

    I completely agree with you. The lessons we have completed on information literacy have helped me tremendously in planning and executing research in my classes. We are constantly looking at cases, crimes and current events. Therefore, this is especially important for students to realize that not everything they read on the internet is a fact. So, I utilize the factcheck.org website to verify the majority of the information they submit. This is a critical in my classes and I appreciate the lessons that covered this topic.

    Information literacy is definitely important for everyone because it really does effect everyone if it's in a classroom setting. An example would be when we learned about the proper internet sites that teachers should research before assigning their students a project. I had an idea of how to properly search the internet, but I definitely know now that internet safety can't be taken for granted. If I didn't know all of the essentials for internet safety, I know my kids don't. Like everyone likes to say, "knowledge is power!"
