Advantages vs. Disadvantages of Elluminate Live

I have both pro's and con's or advantages or disadvantages of using Elluminate Live technology for our class this semester. One of my advantages of using Elluminate Live this semester is the convenience of not having to leave the comfort fo my home in order to participate in class. I don't have to travel downtown or to the Alpharetta campus. I can easily avoid the evening rush hour traffic. I do not have ot deal with childcare for my kids and I can save money by not having to eat out because of possibly getting home late. One of my disadvantages is having to be on-line after work. After a long day at work, I find it hard and challenging to be on-line for 2 1/2 hours. I am more the face to face, sit down in class person. I can say that I feel that my advantages of Elluminate Live outweigh my disadvantages.

  1. I totally agree with you Penelope. Although we work hard and it is difficult after a long day to stay online for so long, however the sacrifice is short lived for the goal that we all have in mind :)

  2. I never thought abou the rush hour traffic. That would be enough to make me want to drop the class if I had to drive in! I grew up in Washington DC and was raised in traffic jams. I moved to NW Georgia to avoid traffic. That's why you might say that I live in the sticks. Childcare would be a huge expense. There has been a few times that my wife has had to leave during class and has had to leave the kids with me. I couldn't imagine how much I would owe her in payback if every Tuesday night she had to watch both of them all by herself while I drove to Atlanta and back. All of these negative thoughts of driving to class are starting to wear me out just talking about it! Thank you GSU and Dr. Burns for letting us use Elluminate LIve.

  3. I agree with you Penelope! It is very convenient, but hard to stay focused after a long day at work! It would be much harder to drive in all that traffic though I am sure!
