Open Mic......

For many I know this was spring break but for me I worked just as hard just without the students. I am finally reaching the point of my industry certification site visit. Many people think it is your typical visit but for Culinary and to gain certification through ACF is a big deal. I am very excited but also ready for it to all be over. I am just looking forward to some sleep. Outside of all that I've had a really good year with some minor bumps along the way. I feel that attending NTI should be required within the first year of teaching because of all the great techniques and strategies that you gain from attending. I am aways going back to my binder looking over things and pulling information that I use on a daily basis.

I feel that I have grown more as an educator and a student. I have gotten in the mood of attending school so it allows me to understand my students even more. I appreciate NTI and that it do for Career and Technical teachers throughout the state of Georgia.

I will keep you all updated on my certification with the ACF. I am really proud to announce that I have 6 students that passed the servsafe certification exam......this was really great!!!! Some of the students passed with really high scores so it made me feel good to a certain extent because I did have some that did not pass (they were really close). I know now that its important to constantly assess the students in various areas so I can see where they are struggling the most with the information. Otherwise it has been an AWESOME year with great students.........now we must await and see how the next year will be.

  1. Keio I feel your pain. Keeping up with certifications and NTI and school and home is a battle in itself. It is important to stay focused on certs and lessons and planning and I to am finding myself doing almost as much at home as i do at school. It is kinda hard to put it down sometimes when you have good ideas and know hey have to be planned out to work so you spend alot of time getting it together. We do what we do cause we care.

  3. Hi Keio. I agree with you that its a good idea for new teacher's to attend NTI the first year of teaching. It really points you into the right direction. I could have used that earlier but I am applying it now. I think that the job you do with certification, will be similar to the meal that you served us this past summer.... VERY GOOD !
