What I've Learned Lately...
Well, I suppose my love for the students has to be my answer here. After nearly four years in this gig, I have certainly realized that I love working with these kids. When I first left the studio industry to enter teaching, I knew that it was the kids or my ultimate attitude toward the kids, that would make or break this as a career for me; and I would have quietly limped back to the studio world. But as I stand here a teacher today, I know that I have a real desire and enjoyment that comes from working with high school seniors. I didn't know at first, but I certainly know now!
I completely agree. You either love the students and the interaction, or you hate it. While I have met instructors with both opinions, there is no "middle-ground" there. Thanks for another onteresting post.

Right on Core! I watch these kids everyday as they push through all of the typical teenage stuff and I wonder how they will do in the real world. My heart really goes out for them, even the ones who constantly get on my nerves. All I really want for them is total and complete success! I have one student who has an 18 month old boy. I ask him about his son quite often. He needs to know how important it is to take care of that little guy. I have a girl in my 1st block who just came out of "Home bound" status. She just had a little boy. My heart really breaks for thier situations. I think it makes me try harder as a teacher.
