Happy Black History Month!
My school is participating in events this month and we have a "show" at the end of the month. It's nice to see students embrace the different cultures and get involve with the many activities relating to the event.
I work at Forest Park High School, and I am willing to bet that it's the MOST diverse school in the county and arguably in Georgia...we have a wonderful mixture of all races(surprisingly well balance in each area). I am proud to have such a nice mixture of kids, it allows for stimulating , insightful and often educational discussion in class.
Makes me feel good to see students interact and show respect for each other...I only wish my co-workers would take heed!
I like working with diverse groups of students too. It makes you look at the world like you're looking through a kaleidoscope-- so many different perspectives chinking through the lens.
ReplyDeleteYes, diversity is wonderful! Helps us to see the world in a zillion different ways. Opens up the whole world to us.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my stepson and stepdaughter both graduated from Forest Park High School a long time ago. They are 48 and 46 now. I will tell them that their old school is alive and doing well!
It is a blessing to have a diverse student population that gets along. At my school, it is not that way yet, but prayerfully adminstration and students will get on the bandwagon and learn to love each other or at least RESPECT each other and the diversity each culture brings to the table. It must start from the top and trickle down...
