Fighting in school

This is my third year at this school and I have never seen so many fights. Last week the cops had to arrest five boys and two girls. Even when going with the cops they were still them a bit of their lips. These are the same students that are always out of class and does not care what grade they get on a test. On the other hand these students are the ones that Shane was describing on Saturday in his conflict resolution. Sometimes these students leave home carrying a book bag of conflicts and as teachers we are there to help them resolve them before the fight starts.

  1. Trevor, I believe that stuff comes in spurts. Last year, there were 6 fights all year long and they all happened within 2 days time. Itll get a little easier as far as that goes. Just dont be afraid to step in and straighten them out, someones gotta do it.

  2. Hey man I tell my students that they better be in some type of "physical condition" if they fight in front of me...because I might not SAVE THEM....LOL...grant it, I won't let a child get seriously injured, but at the same time they often loose control and forget(or don't care) that YOU are trying to help the situation!
    JUST BE CAREFUL GUYS!!!!

  3. we have had several fights this year during school as well..and the funny thing is that all of them during school hours are between girls (boys fight after school at the lake or ballgames) i have one girl in my class that has already been in 3 this year..i think they finally kicked her out of school

  4. Yes, fighting is a problem here in Gwinnett as well. Even though our administration is very strict on imposing rules, there still is TOO much fighting in a place that is supposed to be an educational environment. Most of the ones here are with hot tempered girls. Where are the priorities of these students? and let's remember, IT STARTS AT HOME...
    Never Give UP!
