Hello Puppy Dog!
On Thursday at the start of 3rd period our Principal spoke over the PA system instructing everyone to stay in their rooms and no one was to leave the room until further notice. He informed us that it was not a lockdown or an emergency. So I spent the rest of the period telling my students that I had no idea what was happening. Then it became very obvious what was happening. In walks 3 Cobb County police officers and a very cute black Labrador Retriever. The students were told to keep their hands out of there pockets and line up in the hallway. I, immediately, didn't make the police officer a very happy guy. I am a huge "dog lover", so when I saw the black lab I whistled and yelled out "hi puppy dog!", which made the dog look at me and wag his tale. So for a moment I had distracted this dog from his/her drug sniffing duties. The dog got back "on task" and sniffed many book bags and areas of the class. 3rd period ended with the dog not finding any drugs and I was not charged with obstructing justice.
A great story. I've angered airport security officers by being too friendly with their dogs. Like you, I just can't help myself. I just love dogs, cats, birds, horses...
ReplyDeleteOh yeah I would have so gone to jail.
ReplyDeleteI would have asked the officer a few questions in reference to the pup. Do you take the dog hunting? Is he friendly? Has he killed anyone? Where’s the crack boy --- go get it. I would have stared whistling to see which whistle commands did what. Then when the dog singled me out for smelling like beef and seafood I would have said “I have bacon in my pocket. It’s a trick to make dogs like you I learned from Jack Nicholson. Why? What do you think I’m the schools supplier?” I probably would have tried to play with the dog too, aaaaaand he would have chewed my arm off I’m sure. I have a golden retriever and I used to have a yellow lab, there my two favorite doggies (next to a St. Bernard and its too hot in the south for them).
Yeah I would have so gone to jail.

I had to laugh when I read this - not at yo, but beacuse I have been there too. During our first lock down - - I spent the first minutes looking for my teachers handbook - which I couldn't find - and the next few minutes trying to download the electronic version - finally giving up and having to have a student tell me it was a lock down. "Oh don't worry Mrs. Naymick we'll help you through it". So let me say "don't worry, we'll help you through it". Thats what classmates are for..have an awesome week
ReplyDeleteI must be honest...I started laughing when I read the title of your blog: "Hello Puppy Dog". This is so funny! I kinda' wish the campus police would come to my room to do a drug search. If they were to find any drugs this would explain the peculiar behavior shown by some of my students! Oh, yeah, I'm still laughing!
