Although I am just getting started in the school system, I am already finding myself trying to fully immerse myself in the school and leaving little time for myself. I believe it is a common problem with anyone who is motivated in their work. I have seen extremely driven individuals burn out over time because they didn’t take time to themselves. Although it may seem counterproductive at times to set aside time for you, it can be beneficial in keeping a positive outlook. Nothing is worse than a teacher who is visibly stressed and over worked. “Me time” is a good way to keep things fresh and I believe students are more likely to be engaged when the teacher is in a high-spirited mood. That being said, too much “me time” is certainly a negative thing if it gets in the way or being prepared and meeting deadlines. Once I feel I have reached the most I can do, I strive to do more.

Seeing you looking at the CORE of what you are, a teacher, makes me realize and understand that this is the reason we all got into this in the first place. To lose your sense of identity and purpose, getting into the grind, is a path many have taken and failed.

I am grateful for the chance to be a teacher and I hope I always find time for "me", just as You do.
