I don't like to show up students in class, But I called a student parent during class from our class phone. Whatever the student heard from that phone call was life changing I have no problems keeping her on task now. Sometimes they need to know a parent phone call can be a class period away.Vincenthttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00358002169603460836noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725285395319049030.post-57779841370998828302008-12-03T10:11:00.000-05:002008-12-03T10:11:00.000-05:00Hi, Leonard - Mark had a great response to your po...Hi, Leonard - Mark had a great response to your post and I agree, although you should be doing private and parent conferences, behavior contracts, counselor interventions/schedule changes, and hands-on behavior management for those off-task students. Many times they are bored so make sure they have plenty to do and, as we have discussed in NTI, they may respond well to leadership roles.Dr. Mhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13343227079228308132noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3725285395319049030.post-37096387351098593012008-12-02T20:45:00.000-05:002008-12-02T20:45:00.000-05:00What you express in your post is very true. I can only measure the success of the class by the comments of the students. I have received nothing but good comments from the majority of my students. There are always a few students that will be totally negative about the class no matter what you do. I have learned to stay with the positive comments and do not dwell on the negative ones. It is a fact that no matter how well you are prepared something will go wrong. (Murphy’s Law) The students that are never on task will always be a challenge for teachers that care.Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02669263768030945021noreply@blogger.com
