I am really enjoying my first year as a CTE teacher. Instructing students in the field that I am so passionate about is very fulfilling. I have come to realize that I need the students just as much as they need me. This first year of teaching seems to continuously present challenges but every time I have a student that has overcome one of the challenging tasks that I have presented to them I get inspired. I am so very thankful to have had the opportunity to attend the New Teacher Institute this summer . I felt that the boot camp ( as Dr. Burns referred to it as) really helped me to keep up with the fast pace of the start of the school year. I am looking forward to being able to get more creative in the classroom when things lighten up just a little. There are some awesome veteran teachers in my environment that are very supportive and I am so thankful to them. I look forward to many years as a CTE teacher.
Yes, the “boot camp” really helped me as well. I found that implementing the strategies and practices that we learned can really make the classroom flow smoothly. Although there will always be challenges when working with students, its nice to have a go to guide when certain challenges arise.
